Danielle Josette Coen was born in 1948 and grew up among the bohemian artists of Montmatre in Paris France. Living in this center of art, in a Europe recovering from world war, she experienced an atmosphere of artistic stimulation and a free flow of ideas. She spent her time among artists, poets, musicians, and writers, and was fascinated by the classics so well represented in the Louvre. In 1975 Danielle arrived in the United States. Wanting to break from traditional art forms, she opened a gallery in Denver Colorado aimed at “avant-garde” artists. A few years later, she made New Mexico (another center of the arts) her home. Her art pieces, done in watercolor, charcoal, pencil, pen and ink, etching and oil, are held in many private collections throughout the United States and Europe. Many of her pictures have won awards in juried art exhibitions. Danielle’s pictures defy categorization. She works with ease in many art medias and styles. Within her unique vision and command, she has created a world of strange beauty reflecting her personal image of women. Private collections: Albuquerque,
Austin, Boston, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, San
Francisco, Santa Fe, New Orleans, Chicago, France, Germany, Greece,
Italy, and Japan. |
